Smile what a pain in the gasss?

this past Sunday after a short ride I filled my cobra up with gas and put it in the detached garage .

Last night I went in the garage to check a part number and the smell of gas fumes was horrendous.

Looked in the engine compartment for a leak couldn't find anything, walking around the back of a car I see that the gas has overflowed gobs all over the rear paint expanding the filler cap gasket to where it's sticking out like a tongue?

Cleaned everything up stuck a rags down the spout to suck up more gas, just checked it again this morning it's doing the same thing temperature here has risen so I guess it's a expansion situation. Is this the way it is or should there be some sort of a drain tube? or one that I could put in?
