I received the following in an email from SCOF:
Another great new product upgrade for your Superformance Mk-III Cobra!
After years of searching, SCOF collectively led by the charge of fellow Mk-III
owner Mr. Holley, arrived at a non-glass windshield solution that actually
works! Unlike previous "Lexan" windshields commo0nly coated with the "MR-10"
surface that is supposed to resist scratches, the new PolyGlass windshield is a
HARD SILICONE coated Lexan windshield far superior to resist scratches, scuffs,
gouges, abrasion and even micro scratches caused by windshield wipers on other
lesser versions plastic windshields out there.
Unlike the other common forms of plastic products that are made into
windshields, the PolyGlass product is made specifically FOR automotive use and
applications! In addition to all the great material properties, these
windshields are also HEAT FORMED to the proper curvature of the Superformance
Mk-III Windshield frame. This reduces stress, improves the ease of installation,
increases structural rigidity and most importantly, eliminates optical
distortion otherwise created by all other "flat plastic" products that are
simply "bent" into the shape of the frame during installation. Not a good
solution.
These windshields are available for both the early model Superformance Mk-III's
before car 1100-1200, and another part number for the later model Superformance
Mk-III's after car 1200 to present, which has a 1" shorter height in the center.
The early model Superformance size will also fit most other Cobra replicas as
well as the original vintage 60's Shelby Cobras.
While this product is very new, we do have about 20 owners already enjoying the
clarity and safety of the new PolyGlass windshields. This very special
proprietary coating which is unique to the market, almost acts like "Rain-X" and
rarely do you need your wipers. Clean-up is a snap... all you need is Windex
JUST like a REAL window. You can't do that with other plastic windshields!
We do not have an official web page up for this product yet however, we do have
a photo of a new PolyGlass windshield right after a 300 mile drive without even
being cleaned yet to show you how good it looks... and performs;
