From memory the permit had a fixed fee component and a sliding fee dependant on whether you were after 1 or 28 days. For the life of me I can't recall the fee but I've got one permit filed so when I get home I'll see if it says anything on this.
Sure it was more like $60 or $70 for a month and more cost effective per day for the longest period.
Is meant to cover road testing etc. I carried a GPS and was doing a lot of speed checks.
