Regarding your query about the VIN plate, cars in Australia come with a VIN plate verifying that vehicle's I/D number but there is also a further plate attached to the vehicle showing its month and year of manufacture, so unless whatever plate you have on your Kirkham states this information as well, and you have some sort of official regulatory documentation to back it up, it is unlikely to be considered by our authorities. And then, as Soulman has alluded to, it is at this point that the nightmare to try to gain their approval to import truly begins.

Where it is a fairly painless process to establish the age and credentials of a factory car like a '68 Chevelle or a '71 Mustang etc, it is an entirely different and difficult undertaking to prove the build date or provenance of an individually constructed vehicle to the satisfaction of our import authorities.

They have become increasingly vigilant in recent times with the import of ICVs to the extent that it is now virtually impossible for the average car enthusiast to bring a modern day ICV into the country. It is a constant source of frustration to us to see some of the mouth-watering beauties advertised on Cobra Country that must remain a dream because of our onerous import restrictions. It is doubly galling seeing that for the first time in ages the exchange rate between our respective currencies actually favours Australia, thus putting some of the most desirable Cobras within the financial reach of Oz Cobra devotees for the first time.

Don,

Is your Arntz a local car ?

or imported?
