Default Q re: replacement valves for ARF heads

I've been communicating with one of the engine builders on the forum and have almost decided on AFR 165R or AFR 185R heads for my eventual SBF H/C/I swap. One of the things I notice in other posts by KC8 (and others) is that one of the advantages of the AFR heads is that the valves are lighter as a result of the smaller diameter of the valve stem.

I guess my question is: considering that AFR appears to use "non-standard" valves in their heads, am I stuck buying replacement or upgraded valves from AFR, or can they be sourced from other aftermarket companies, too?

TIA for whatever help you can provide!!

Cheers from Dugly
