Piper,
Starting with the basics, it is most likely the ignition switch. You will need to pull the steering wheel off, right down to the "turn signal switch". Look through the switch on the right side, you will see a fairly large screw under the switch. (You can see it through a hole in the switch.) Take this screw out and the ignition switch will fall out in your hands. A new switch can be had at almost any auto parts store. Reverse installation, replace the screw, steering wheel etc.

Done and ready to go
