The chevy small block has always had good support from the aftermarket producers compared to the ford Windsor. Cost would have had a lot to do with it.
I am sure every Hotrodder would prefer to fit a Flathead, Hemi or a Y block ford over any SBF or SBC, but a simple cheap option is the 350 chev, TH 350 and a 10 bolt diff. These rods are pretty ho hum in my book.
Before the Billet age, a Windsor alternator bracket was impossible to get however for SBC there were 5 different options.
So like everything these days it comes down to cost.
I always chuckle with the "Bang for Buck" and "dollar per HP" comments surely the descision to build or own a cobra is a bad financial decision in the first place!!!
