It's worth a shot to fix it.
We use to put what we called a "boot" or large vulcanized patch on the inside of the tire when a plug wouldn't hold.

Recently most Major Tire Shops won't do this, especially if the steel wire is damaged by the nail or whatever punctured the tire, I think it's a liability matter, they can't even sell used tires in Ca. and AZ anymore.
if the wire mess is not damaged a good old patch and perhaps a tube will work, but don't go too fast...you never know.

Good luck, find a good old time gas station or small tire shop...they will most likely fix it.
