I bleed blue.....always have. There's a lot of things that I like about Fords in comparison to the others. However, I enjoy assembling any engine. It's all about detail and hard work. I love it.

Both GM and Ford have excellent 427-ish engine packages. I wouldn't do an older generation SBC in a 427 just because you have to use a 400 block and a longer stroke crank, which makes the pistons really short on a 9" deck. The LS motors are pretty hard to beat with 6 bolt mains, nice flowing heads, etc. They do require extra tools though, like a torque angle gauge to torque the mains.

I like the Windsor deck height. You can pack more inches in.

But to be honest, the "427" number has saturated the market and it's not really special anymore. Give me a big inch 385 series or FE any day...
