I guess so.....funny thing is I've been using the older Ford blocks all my life. The ones with the old style 2 piece rear main seal and soo far,have not had one leak a drop of
oil and one engine I built back in the mid 90's is still running strong and to date has not missed a beat,nor leaked a drop of anything..........
Newer is not always better........
