That's a tough one. Your right about money not being a motivator. Like any obsession, logic or reason do not apply. If they are truly obsessive about it, nothing will work. Non-offensive persistence might have a chance. Over a period of months (years?) of many many visits, you might develop a relationship that will allow the trade to happen.
