I'll assert it does work but the setup is hard to get right. Once it's working it's flawless. It's application though I think is primarily for those of us that go through big altitude changes. I can't see the value of it if you are always at constant altitude. I can go from Vegas (2000') to the top of Trail Ridge Road (12000') without touching it. Getting it to do that was a chore though.
One thing the fuel injection does though is put a pretty hard limit on the top RPM. Mine is 6500, but the engine ought to be capable of doing something like 8000 with a good carb setup. My engine is a Roush 427IR Windsor based.
A friend of mine sold his Ford GT and recently replaced it with a Superformance GT40 with the same engine for most of the same reasons.
