For FE street drivers, my own preference is to use the HV oil pumps. The mentality for this is improved oil pressure at the lower rpms and when idling. For a drag car and reasonable clearances, I'll use the stock volume pump. If the clearances are on the wide side for a 'performance' application, then it's a HV pump again.
