I first ran corks, but then changed them over to black rubber because of leaks. That pic is of the valve covers right after I put the 3m Weatherstripping stuff on them, and right before I put the black rubber gaskets on them. Then what I do now is when I remove the cover I smear a bead of "open gear" grease on the head where the rubber gasket contacts it and I have no oil leaks whatsoever and the covers are easy to remove for valve adjustments.
