Default Snakespitt-Two Guys Building Cobras

Yesterday I read a post by centaur17 about a company named Snakespitt,1966 ac cobra replica kit, Ph. 435-224-3364, that he had bought his car from. The company is here in Utah so I thought I would contact them to check out their car. I am in the process of building a B&B, and am about 80% done and now finishing the bodywork. I met Todd, one of the owners, and for a few hours we discussed their 427 bodies, their frames, and the unique features they had built into their cars. Todd had his car present and we spent a good deal of time going over the car in detail. These cars are strong daily drivers but a few guys have bought his cars to build that they will have more than a 100K into them.

Todd said several years back he had purchased LA Exotics molds and they were perfect. One thing that most guys don’t understand is that the age and quality of the mold is very important. A mold that is old may not produce the same quality of car # 190 as it did with car #60. I have seen other cars where the molds were old and they used clay to fill the voids where the mold was damaged or pieces were missing.

I went over one of Todd’s complete bodies with my hand and was very impressed. The glass was consistent in thickness and the seems were tight and small. It looked to me like the bodywork would be very minimal. Todd said on one body they painted they got it ready for paint in less than a day. I have heard these claims before but really didn’t believe it was possible after working on my body for so long, but on the body I looked at I believed it could be done. Overall I was impressed with two guys that were building a really good product at a very reasonable price. If they were building when I was in the market I would have gone a different route.
