Several years ago I was talking with an engineer about harmonic balancers. In the discussion he told me that the fluid type dampeners were terrible at taking out bending harmonics, and caused many broken crankshafts. Seems like the old rubber OEM style dampener is very good at taking out both torsional as well as bending harmonics.
