Earlier in this thread someone was talking about weights, so here is some data based on actual results posted on
BIG BLOCK FORD'S.
Factory iron blocks run from 205lbs (4.440 bore D0VE) up to 229lbs (4.36 bore D9TE-AB) The A460 (Ford Motorsports) block, un-machined is 302lbs but drops to 255lbs with a 4.625 bore.
My new un-machined A-96 block (aluminum with billet caps and 2.750mains) comes in at 160lbs. I expect it to drop to about 130 lbs when bored to 4.600.
I question the statement that a complete, all iron FE at 500lbs. I read on FORD FE.COM that a complete iron 390 comes in at 610lbs. Alum heads,intake,water pump got it down to 520lbs
