Default ERA #773 Fuel Pump Location

The best place I can find to mount the filters, fuel pump and pressure regulator is on the front of the fuel tank, in the 4 1/2" space betweeen the front of the fuel tank and the back of the IRS.

A mounting plate could be welded to the front of the fuel tank and the fuel pump, filters and pressure regulator could be mounted to that. A sheet metal housing could be built to enclose and protect the components from the from the elements.

The fuel pick-up tube going down to the bottom of the tank is 3/8" O.D. This should be increased to 1/2" O.D. for -8 hose running to the fuel pump?

This location is not below the fuel tank, but is as low as the only other low elevation location, which is between the frame rails.

Are there safety issues that would preclude mounting the components in this location?

Or should the fuel tank be modified for an internal mounted fuel pump (Mallory 4305M)?
