Hi Peter, sorry to go off topic a bit, but do you have any snaps of racing Valiants, all and any models.

On a Cobra history note, I was chatting with a mate out here, he is an expat yank from California.
He mentioned when he lived in California his neighbour (older guy) used to work at an airport hanger with Carrol Shelby building Cobra's and GT40's.
He was telling me a story when the Cobra's were first being built, this guy was a young fella then, and Shelby used to give them a Cobra every second or third night and a couple of hundred in cash to go racing the hotrod guys.
Apparently they used to come back the next day with $1000 plus in there pocket, Carrol would take his money back to cover original cost, then split the money between the guys who did the racing.
This only lasted about a month or so, then word got around and there were no takers on race night.

Another story, and apparently how he lost his job, was comming back from a race meeting (he did mention which one but I forgot), they had a GT40 and a Mustang 350 on trailers, a couple of the mechanics argued about which one was faster, so they took them off the trailers and went racing on the highway.
Well apparently he lost control of the 40 and ended up on its roof, Shelby did not want to sack the guy but said he was costing too much in insurance.

Hoping to make time and chat more soon. Love the old stories.
