When I was researching this, somebody told me they make a bushing for the units that take a smalller bolt and I believe also that somebody also makes a shouldered bolt that has the proper sized shaft and thread size for the Dana 44 to later Salisbury conversion.
Wish I could remember who had them available but you might try Coventry West to get some info on this install.
