I'm sure the 385 series motors provide great performance for the buck. Technology has come a long way since 1965.

Best Bang for the buck depends on the "bang"you are looking for. For those looking to reproduce the original car as closely as possible there is no better bang for the buck than the FE or the 289. From a resale standpoint historically the more accurate the build to original specs the better the resale. Period.

The original FEs and 289s are rarer and more valuable especially the 427SOs and 289 HiPos than the new series products.
