I went to the first one, and a couple of others twenty odd years ago and they where certainly not precious back then.

You might find that public liability might be the issue. I entered my car into a local show last year and all vehicles had to be on site by 9:30am and couldn't be moved until the show ended at 3. The issue is cars running over show goer's, strange considering precisely that same issue is what is constantly going on in the carpark!!!
