Yes, the build date appears to be correct for August 30, 1967, but the 8 in the second digit of the engineering number indicates that it is a 1968 model year revision. If there is a block casting-date, you will likely see that it, too, has an August 1967 date code. They typically started casting the next year's parts revisions in about July (maybe earlier) of the preceeding year, thus August 1967 for a 1968 model year vehicle.

Don't recall if it could be forged or not, but someone will chime in on that.

Keep in mind that Ford did many odd things... so you never really know for sure until you open it up!
