Default Inner guards/shields - front?

My first GTO kit came with separate fibreglass inner front guards/shields - to be use in addition to the inner guards of the 240Z unibody. They are an appalling fit and few builders have bothered to fit them. My new kit does not have them.

I've searched Google images to find how the Cobra kit inner guards are constructed but haven't had any luck so a couple of questions if I may.

1. How are the Cobra inner guards/shields constructed (photos please), and
2. Do I really need to fabricate inner guards/shields to protect the headlights buckets from road debris and/or muck building up around the doorframe/firewall join area, and if so, some design ideas, thanks?
