The Amelia Island Concours is not your typical event. At Amelia, a full 30% of the judging score comes from the categories of "elegance" and "provenance." As a result, if you had 10 perfectly restored cars, those with the best overall appearance and history would clobber those which were even minimally lacking in those areas. In other words, a car with an attractive paint color and race history can prevail over cars with more unusual paint choices and no notable historic accomplishments. Accordingly, 2433 got a 3rd place award, not just for the quality of its restoration, but for its gorgeous paint and race history that dates back to SCCA competition as far back as 1967.
