I know I'm losing my memory (seriously) but.....
My 418w didn't seem to have the
oil slinger washer that I suppose goes on the crank nose just behind the
oil seal inside the timing cover. Saw a picture of one in an assembly manual. I don't remember seeing it on disassembly and it's not on the bench. I took lots of pictures during the cam replacement tear down and it's no were to be seen in any of them.
I really don't think my motor had one in place and it had 4K miles and no leaks in the front seal, probably without it.
So, necessary or not?
