It's not that I want to register outside the county. It's just the impression I got and the attitude of the person I interacted with at the AJ DMV. He gave me erronious info saying I needed to get FFR to transfer the Cert of Origin like you would a regular "sales" transaction. And he mentioned charges for the cost of the project. When I checked on the website, it does appear that I cound be responsible for $400-$500 in taxes if you used the criteria for a new production car. This was under the kit car heading. No car builders I have talked with so far indicate having to pay such taxes. So I am a little concerned about the situation since people tend to fit the scenario into their known experiences. At this DMV, I don't think anyone has done this transaction or at least I haven't gotten to communicate with that person if they have. I will keep probing. I'm still not ready to transport the roadster, yet. Thanks, wEK.
