Ported or manifold vacuum is personal preference. It's just an idle issue because once the plates open it all balances out to be the same. With Ported my car idles great and I have no temperature issues at 16* initial 900 rpm 500HP 351w. As far as vacuum advance: if your on the street there are no downsides, use it.
