I'm the guy who Dwight is trying to help out....BTW, a big "Thanks" to Dwight for helping me in my quest to find a SO.
The engine will be going into a CSX that I took delivery on in December. I have a bit of a funding shortfall (long story) which has delayed my efforts on the car but now we’re ready to get started with the engine build. Other than a few issues with the car itself, I’m somewhat confident that SAI will resolve them promptly so I don’t experience any other delays of getting the car the on the road.
Back to the engine; my goal is to build a streetable 427 SO with the HP in the 525 to 550 range so my wife can drive and enjoy the car too. I’ve thought long and hard about going with an aluminum block but I think the money would be better spent in the rotating assembly and/or the valve-train. The CSX has been a live-long dream of mine so it will be a “keeper” instead of flipping the car after a few years just to satisfy a mid-life crisis. With that being said, I’d like to have a vintage block but the more I dig into locating a block, it’s pushing me into the direction of a reproduction block from Pond or Genesis.
