i'm not sure mine is accurate either but most of the time it really doesn't matter to me.
i have a 6800 rpm pill in my msd so i don't over rev, and a shift light pill of 6300 to shift by when i'm pushin it.....half the time i'm too busy keeping it straight and driving to even look at the tach....
