Hey Jeff, My poor feeble brain is whirrling like a toad. I checked two plugs on the driver's side and they were suitably dark, which I expected from the idling in the garage. Then, I checked all the plugs on teh passenger side and they were all showing very lean. I checked the intake manifold bolts and they were all tight. Did the carb cleaner trick with the car running and there was no RPM increase. I increased all the jets three sizes, and the car seems to be running cooler now. Can't say for sure since the engine died a few miles into the ride. The fuel pressure showed zero, I opened the gas tank cap, started up and drove a couple more miles before the engine died again. Got started and limped home, so didn't really get enough miles on it to see how the plugs look. I got a new fuel pump last night, installed it today and will take a ride tomorrow morning to see how the critter acts. Hope I can put 20-30 miles on it and then I'll pull some plugs again. The jets were the same as I'd been running but perhaps the larger cam and header tube size leaned things out a bunch. I don't have an air/fuel gauge or oxygen sensors, so I'll have to try for a good mixture the old fashioned way, at least until I take it to a dyno some day.
