Talking about shoes. I use Piloti driving shoes as well as cheaper Converse Chuck Taylor All Star sneakers. Both work well - not any wider than necessary and thin soles for good pedal feel. Regular "Nike" style sneakers are noticeably too wide - even though I'm only a size 9!
By the way - be prepared - the pedals are noticeably shifted to the left of center-line. Very easy to get used to though (I don't even notice).
