When one becomes Americanized, sniffing panties is expected - in fact it is one of the rites of passage in high school. There are those, of course, who deny this kind of behaviour. They are the same people who never pick their noses, make love with the lights out, and recoil in horror at the thought of m-bation, and would never tell a bad Ghandi joke.
