It clear from some past threads that the DMV has people comb through registrations looking for problems. The best guarantee that the DMV won't suddenly find an issue with your registration is to get an SB-100. It's easy to do, it costs nothing and it can save you a lot of trouble down the road. So if you have an out of state car, it is prudent to get the SB-100.

That was me. Mine was not registered as a 66 or what-ever though. It was legal through the DMV as a 0000SPCN but they never sent in a smog notice.
I sent a PM to the OP and left him my number but he did not call. Was the long weekend and all though.
