I picked up insurance when it came back from paint. I drove around the neighborhood a few times with nothing before just to make sure there were no huge glaring problems I wanted to resolve before paint.
I'm not yet titled or inspected, but I feel pretty confident I could talk my way out of those little shortfalls with a new, current insurance policy. Worse case, I get a couple of minor, non moving violation tickets.
I only believe in insuring things that I couldn't recover from...like 3 million dollar medical bills and house burning down. This car is play money. If it was stolen in the build process, yea, it would be a hickey, but my financial wellbeing wouldn't be affected. I do now have full coverage because it's a good risk reward balance, and it's the other guys I'm worried about.
