For those of you who have emailed me asking for an update on my pipes and problems with Airborne Coatings, here it is.
Quick recap, drove my pipes 2 1/2 hours one way , wrapped in blankets to airborne coatings to avoid any possible damage. Total 10 hours driving back and forth. Received the pipes with 1 dent, 1 gouge and numerous runs.
Contacted airborne coatings and they had the pipes picked up. I had to pay the 20 dollars for shipping supplies. The apologized for the problem and told me they would fill the dent , remove the coating and redo the pipes.
Well, I just got the pipes back this Friday. The good news it there are no runs in the pipes. They fixed the dent, although not a great fix. The bad news - First I open the box and there was water flooded in one pipes

now the pipes are worse than before. They dented the other pipe

5 gouges ( several only inches from the previous dent)

and NUMEROUS scratches. The longest being a little over 5 1/2 inches.
And finally, the pipes were far more shiny the first time around, they are actually dull now is some parts SIGH.........
I can tell you I am more than a little ticked at Airborne Coatings. My cost so far is 397.50 for a far sub par job, $20 in additional shipping cost, and several tanks of gas. $417.50 not including the gas.
I thought about protesting the charges on my credit card until this is fixed, BUT that would mean I would have to incur more shipping costs. Hope they come back in good shape, which their record shows so far that you get them back worse then you sent them. I guess I?ll try and bang out the dent and buff the gouges to see if I can make them better.
IF you were considering Airborne Coatings I would suggest you give one of the other companies a try. Airborne?s quality control seems to be lacking. You?d figure they?d take extra care on my pipes the second time around. Sadly , that doesn't seem the case.
