if its a 9", then yes the fill plug is in the 3rd member,... to drain, i wouldn't put a plug in it, the gear lube is thick, it'll take days to drain out anyway, i always use a plunger type oil sucker to suck out the fluid from the fill hole, unless i'm changing gears then i just put a pan under and remove bolts
