Can I ask how you get all these great pics on your post , without having to put them in your " gallery " first ?

I've only ever been able to insert pics in my posts by uploading the pic tO my gallery , and then copying the URL to the thread.... Then , when I remove these pics from my gallery , they also Dissapear from the post.

Dumb question?.
