Is it worth the hassle? Use a 302 or 5.0 and it all bolts up. You can even use a late clutch cable. The 289 had a shorter stroke crank, only difference. Even 289 HP heads are no match for todays off the shelf aluminum.

Small blocks then used BW T-10's (sideloader). Small block Cobras used them, Sunbeam Tigers used them, (Griffith used them) and most 4 spd equipped Falcons, Comets, & Mustangs used them. Things like bellhousings, clutches, flywheels, clutch linkages for the OLD oldies might be hard to find.
