Finally got to dive the car - wow - an absolute blast. I cannot stop smiling. We've been at it for several weeks. I know you guy's have seen hundreds but none of those are mine
Still much to do, but we are on our way.
Checking for leaks - we pulled all of the ancillaries off the front of the engine and reworked a lot of the layout.
Squared the throttle linage and built steel fuel line and routed around back of block.
Re-routed
oil lines, moved coil to front of block, swapped in aluminum water pump, swapped in new MSD distributor. Both the water pump and Distributor showed a lot of corrosion. A little
oil weeping here.
I just have to have the look and feel.
So my alternator hook up is kind of weird - we were able to find a suitable dip stick and move it to the head.
The car is sitting high at the front (5.375) with the rear at 5.0. I assume this was done to get the front of the pipes out of the dirt.
Had the side pipes reworked and squared to the car. We will be painting these black and lowering the front to 4.75.
It drives really soft. At times it feels like it is porposing. We are going to mess with the front shocks some to see what we can do.
I had to purchase a new wheel and Les Schwab filled them all to 35lb on remount. The car would hop under hard acceleration out of first. I lowered the tires to 24f 26r and it has not hopped since, so I am encouraged.
We badged the car last night and are in the process of converting to bumpers. - I wish ERA had a suitable badge to go on the rear deck lid - it would be perfect.
Have a new 650 Speed Demon to bolt on in the next few days.
This is an outstanding forum - an unbelievable amount of knowledge shared here. If anyone could advise me on the proper spanners for the shocks it would be appreciated.
