Last year I bought a car in a junk yard that had a 1994 Mustang GT 302 engine transplanted in it, it was in fairly good running condition, I mainly needed the block and a few other parts off the engine...Best we could tell, that engine had over 75,000 miles on it and when I tore it down,you could still see the cross hatch in all the cylinders and this engine did have a rough life up to that point.....
I don't have any idea what happened to your engine, but what you describe should not have happened in 13,000 miles and what other have been describing with their Roush engines with that or less mileage is not good...
