Guess I was one of the lucky ones. Had a '64, 289, T-10. No trouble with trans. But I did have it to do all over again when putting Cobra together and went with 5 spd T5Z. 2.95 low w/3.55 rear. Swapped .68 od out for .80. 2500RPM=75MPH. Great for highway cruising. Concerned with T5 durability with all the stories I've read. Suppose if I screeched it all the time, I'd break it eventually, but I don't. Nice, smooth, quick shifting sports car trans.
