Jim, that is true, however the good thing about this hinge design is that when the hood is fully open there is no down weight on it. When fully open it is slightly past center to the front. When I was building my car I left the hood open for weeks in the shop without any support. It would seem any force to close it would be from the wind. I am still evaluating.

This is a picture of Todd's Hood Stay. Notice, he has his radiator mounted forward out of the way.
