Schubeck isn't really in business anymore, Smith Machine is making the lifters now.

I choose not to run them, as there are other options. You have to run a butt-load of spring pressure with them so that you don't get into any valve float issues. If you let the valves float or lose control of the valvetrain, the ceramic breaks off the bottom of the lifter, and then you essentially have a hand-full of abrasive running through your engine.

I've done a few rules engines where flat tappets are required and I usually go with a nitrided cam core, and a set of EDM lifters with the oil feed hole...no restrictors in the block. After break-in, I'll run 150-160 lbs seat with 400-425 lbs open pressure.

If you need anything more than that, I would hop up to the tool steel lifters.
