"Coldfire" is the media, some chemical added to water which makes a foam. (I think) Supposedly it doesn't harm anything it comes into contact with. I'm looking for a company that uses it in their extinguisher bottles.
I wouldn't rely on Halon, as it was designed to work in closed spaces and depletes oxygen.
Your cockpit is not a closed space.
