Wood floors were often used in machine and fab shops to lessen the wear & tear on the workers feet. You can still find different styles of wood flooring in larger machine factory operations like Pratt & Whitney & GE in the N.E. USA. Wood was also a cheeper product back then. Why the guys are there??
