Good luck Patrick!
OK, I bought it and it's on its way. Here is a shot showing the clearance under my hood as taken through the scoop. There is a wooden ruler sitting on the chrome filter top, and on top of that is a roll of black electrical tape. Blue painters tape is on the hood so you can see it better. The combination of the ruler and tape is exactly 7/8 of an inch and everything just barely touches the hood and the hood latches with them there. So my current top free space, when nothing is torquing over, is 7/8 inch. I currently have the K&N E-2570 filter, which is 1.875 inches high. I have the K&N master list and I see that I can go higher, or lower, depending on where that new top sits. I don't think I'm fond of the black look, but I won't know until I see it. I think I will try and make it appear to be unpolished aluminum. After doing my wheels, a filter top should be a piece of cake. One interesting point. I flipped my current lid over, and it seemed, maybe, to gain about a quarter inch in clearance over putting it right side up. There's a pic below. I actually like the look of unfinished aluminum more than the chrome side. Of course, I don't want the new lid to be jammed right up against the hood, but it will increase air flow over what I have now regardless.
