That's the same setup that I use and no fuse in the primary cable. Going on 9 years and haven't fried anything yet. Given the amount of current it carries a fuse would have to be pretty big (a couple of hundred amps).
Do use a fuseable link off the starter solenoid as a precaution but that should do it.
