They take the most care if it's in their packaging, as in UPS store for UPS or Kinkos for Fedex. They should be tied to each other top to tail with plenty of padding in between and they fit pretty well in a guitar box with maybe one over each end. Use plenty of wrapping and insurance! The tips get beat up the most.
