The brother knows what he's talkin' about. I use the same stuff. Those spring clips work well and look old-school. Re-use of them is very good. I've probably had mine off and back on so many times I lost count.

If your hose is cut to the correct length, it shouldn't kink. The hose I used came off a roll at Pep Boys. Nothing special about it.
